Magnolia Easter and Saturated Canary birthday card

Good afternoon everyone.....it's been a very long time since my last posting! I'd like to share a Easter card I made for my mother. I recently had to place my mother in a nursing home...she lived with me for almost 16 years. Intellectually, I know it was time because she is currently in a wheelchair because walking has become too difficult for her. I would never be able to care for her and go to work or even sleep! She requires around the clock care now. Soooo, knowing all this, why do I still harbor guilt feelings??? It just feels strange at home, but I know, in time, I will adjust.

I made this Saturated Canary birthday card for my niece, a high school science teacher. She is also a breast cancer survivor....a very brave girl indeed. I'm very proud of her.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your concern. It means so much to me. Love you all, Christina

  1. Ciao Christina ...
I just read your post and I am very sorry for your mother ... We have lived your own experience with my grandmother. My uncle took care of her for many years. Then the situation 'worse and not' more able 'to keep it at home. Nursing homes are treated very well 'cause we are professionals. At home we are not able to treat people like that problems. Do not feel guilty but think that your mom 'treated very well ...

  3. Hi Christina, your Mom is going to love the gorgeous Easter Card that you have made her. I know it must be hard to have your Mom in a nursing home. You will see that you did the right thing, but it takes the heart awhile to recover, especially when it comes to our Moms. The card that you made for your Niece is also wonderful! Take Care!
    Hugs,

  4. Hi Christina, give yourself a pat for being so dutiful. 16 years of care is quite amazing. You've done what you can... People always think that it's cruel to leave your old folks in a home but actually sometimes that's the best place for them. And it doesn't come cheap. Your mum is very blessed. There are many in my country who are juz abandoned by their children. TFS glad to see your lovely cards again.

  23. Both cards are wonderful Christina --- it takes a while to get over the guilt but get over it you will. As you know, I have been through your experience. One day at a time kid and keep up with your art journal - no need for words unless you want to use them. You have such a wonderful following with your cards and now a whole new world in mixed media.
    Love everything you do Sugar!!
